EBC will implement electronic communications between the systems and parties involved in the supply process, maintain data within the systems to provide progress updates akin to those for warehouse supplied materiel. The EBC initiative will enable: Forward Supply Chain:
- An electronic Demand Order to be sent to the Supplier, these could also be subject to amendments and or cancellation.
- Supplier will Respond and Confirm the Demand Order
Reverse Supply Chain:
- An electronic Repairable Return will be sent to the Supplier giving advance notification that an item is being returned for repair.
- Supplier to acknowledge receipt of returned item. The absence of this will enable the MOD to investigate the cause of this.
- An electronic Disposal Request will be sent to the Supplier.
- Supplier will transmit a message that will cause SS3 to generate a Disposal Instruction, informing the unit whether the item is to be returned od disposed of locally.

- M1 - Demand Order

- M4 - Inform Consignment Tracking
- M5 - Demand Order Supplier Response
- M8 - Demand Order Amendment/Cancellation
- M9 - Disposal Request
- M10 - Repairable Return to Supplier
- M11 - Disposal Instruction
- M12 - Acknowledge Receipt of Defective and/or Surplus Items
