The BFIS service is a MOD internal service with no Supplier Users at this time.
Individuals with a BFIS account, a client computer of required specification and access to the RLI (Restricted LAN Interconnect) can use BFIS to record all core inventory management transactions for bulk fuels.
As examples, the transaction types used within the system include the following:
Receipts – these allow the MOD to manage and track the receipt of bulk fuels from various bulk delivery methods. They also allow for the receipting of fuel at remote depots from primary storage locations within the MOD.
Issues – these allow the MOD to manage and track the issuing of fuel to Bulk Fuel Installations, Fuel Tankers and Aircraft etc down to road vehicle level.
Sales – these allow the MOD to manage and track the sale of fuel from military establishments to foreign military forces (NATO, USA etc.) or to civilian aircraft if required.
Within the above processes the data collected allows DFG to audit their actual fuel stock and usage in a number of ways - by type, by location, by storage unit or by receipts / issues or sales by type or as a whole.
